{"id":887784,"date":"2026-09-08T09:18:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T09:18:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/887784\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T09:18:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T09:18:14","slug":"jean-sebastien-dea-announces-retirement-pro-hockey-rumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/887784\/","title":{"rendered":"Jean-Sebastien Dea Announces Retirement \u2013 Pro Hockey Rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to an announcement on his Instagram, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/renlavoietva\/status\/2097089820409430521\" rel=\"nofollow\">shared by Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports<\/a>, forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/deaje01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-09-07_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jean-S\u00e9bastien Dea<\/a> has retired from professional hockey.<\/p>\n<p>Dea, 32, began his professional playing career toward the end of the 2013-14 season. Then, after spending three years with the QMJHL\u2019s Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Dea signed with the AHL\u2019s Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins as an undrafted free agent.<\/p>\n<p>For the next five seasons, that\u2019s where Dea primarily remained. Through the 2018-19 season, the Laval, QC native scored 72 goals and 163 points in 287 games as an effective secondary contributor for the AHL Penguins.<\/p>\n<p>Still, he didn\u2019t go without a taste of NHL action. Dea appeared in nine games with Pittsburgh over that stretch, tallying two goals. In the 2018-19 season, Dea bounced between the Penguins and New Jersey Devils, being claimed each way on the waiver wire. In his brief stint with the Devils, Dea registered three goals and five points in 20 games.<\/p>\n<p>After the 2018-19 campaign, Dea bounced around the league, joining the Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, and Arizona Coyotes organizations over the next four years. He enjoyed his best season in 2021-22, scoring 26 goals and 52 points in 70 games for his hometown team, the Laval Rocket.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the last four years, it\u2019s been all overseas for Dea. He spent several years with the KHL\u2019s Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk before finishing out his career with the DEL\u2019s Eisb\u00e4ren Berlin.
