Healthcare-focused venture firm W Health Ventures (WHV) has closed its second fund at Rs 700 crore, oversubscribing its initial target of Rs 630 crore.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The fund plans to build 8\u201310 healthcare companies from the pre-idea stage to category leaders over the next four years.<\/p>\n
W Health follows a company-creation model, where its in-house team of physicians, operators and technologists identifies gaps in healthcare delivery and spends 12\u201318 months evaluating and de-risking an opportunity before bringing in a founding team.<\/p>\n
The firm plans to write Rs 30\u201350 crore cheques and build 2\u20133 companies every year across India and the US-India corridor.<\/p>\n
Fund II has already launched two companies. Everhope Oncology, built with Narayana Health, is focused on coordinated, patient-centric cancer care, while Everbright Health is developing treatments for treatment-resistant depression in the US.<\/p>\n
According to W Health Ventures, its portfolio companies have reached 25 million patients to date. The firm said Fund II will focus on solving large, underserved healthcare problems where first-mover solutions can create population-scale impact.<\/p>\n
Founded in 2020, W Health Ventures has built companies including Elevate Now, Nivaan, Hoola Health and Everhope Oncology, with offices across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Boston.<\/p>\n
