Angel Reese Has Officially Made \u201cMebounds\u201d One of the Funniest Debates in the WNBA<\/p>\n
Angel Reese has spent the entire season doing something remarkably simple:<\/p>\n
Getting the basketball.<\/p>\n
The \u201cMebounds\u201d jokes have followed her for years, with critics arguing that too many of her rebounds come after her own misses.<\/p>\n
At this point, though, the joke is getting harder to make with a straight face.<\/p>\n
Reese just finished one of the most ridiculous rebounding stretches in WNBA history.<\/p>\n
She grabbed a league-record 26 rebounds against Los Angeles, broke A\u2019ja Wilson\u2019s single-season rebounding record and then set the league\u2019s single-season record with her 29th double-double.<\/p>\n
She also won Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.<\/p>\n
So yes, make the \u201cMebounds\u201d jokes.<\/p>\n
They\u2019re funny.<\/p>\n
But pretending Reese is only getting rebounds because she misses shots is selling what she\u2019s doing extremely short.<\/p>\n
The woman is legitimately elite on the glass.<\/p>\n
And here\u2019s the best part: Reese has embraced the joke.<\/p>\n
She turned \u201cMebounds\u201d into merchandise and reportedly turned the trolling into a six-figure business while using some of the proceeds to support her foundation\u2019s work against cyberbullying.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s the part people should probably appreciate.<\/p>\n
She got mocked.<\/p>\n
She turned it into money.<\/p>\n
Then she went out and broke the damn rebounding record anyway.<\/p>\n
