Four teenagers are dead after a two-vehicle collision near Winnipeg Beach Sunday night that also sent four Winnipeg residents to hospital.<\/p>\n
Gimli RCMP responded to the collision at the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 229 at about 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 6.<\/p>\n
Police said a westbound vehicle on Highway 229 was crossing Highway 8 when it was struck by a southbound van. The intersection has stop signs for eastbound and westbound traffic.<\/p>\n

Both vehicles entered the southwest ditch after the collision. One of the vehicles rolled and came to rest on its roof.<\/p>\n
The four teenagers in the westbound vehicle were gravely injured and died at the scene.<\/p>\n
The victims were an 18-year-old Winnipeg woman who was driving, an 18-year-old Gimli man, an 18-year-old Sandy Hook woman, and a 17-year-old boy from Ear Falls, Ont.<\/p>\n
Four Winnipeg residents were travelling in the van, including the 49-year-old man who was driving, a woman, and two children. RCMP said all four suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Winnipeg for treatment.<\/p>\n
An RCMP Traffic Services collision reconstructionist attended the scene to assist with the investigation.<\/p>\n
