23-year-old\u00a0Carson Hocevar\u00a0is undeniably the most polarizing figure in the NASCAR\u00a0Cup Series today, and the Spire Motorsports star is turning that attention into big money after a recent run-in with former series champion\u00a0Brad Keselowski.<\/p>\n
Hocevar, who is one of 16 drivers still alive in the series\u2019 Chase for a champion, slid into Keselowski during the opening stage of Sunday\u2019s Southern 500 at historic Darlington Raceway, causing Keselowski to spin out and ruining his day.<\/p>\n
Hocevar went on to finish in 11th, while Keselowski came home in 23rd. After the race, Keselowski sent out a warning: \u201cHis day\u2019s coming, and it\u2019s coming hard. Watch out, Carson,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
To which Hocevar responded, \u201cI don\u2019t know. It looked like he spun.\u201d<\/p>\n
When informed of Keselowski\u2019s warning, Hocevar said simply, \u201cI\u2019ll tighten my belts.\u201d<\/p>\n

But after the Keselowski incident, he added an additional six percent, seemingly representing Keselowski\u2019s car number.<\/p>\n just added an extra 6% off at https:\/\/t.co\/HFSMS2hXrh<\/a> https:\/\/t.co\/px6VgH79Yy<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Carson Hocevar (@CarsonHocevar) September 7, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n According to Stern, sales from the online shop hit nearly $200,000 in the 24 hours following the Southern 500.<\/p>\n Big Business May End Up Biting Carson Hocevar In The Long Run<\/p>\n On the surface, it appears as if Hocevar came away from the incident with a huge win. He had a solid finish, and his team sold a ton of merchandise.<\/p>\n But the larger picture is far murkier. Hocevar has drawn the ire of just about everyone else in the Cup Series garage this season, with reigning champion Kyle Larson even accusing him of wrecking on purpose<\/a> to get on television.<\/p>\n On the latest episode of his \u201cActions Detrimental\u201d podcast, current points leader and future Hall of Famer Denny Hamlin accused Spire Motorsports of being an unserious organization.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re not going to get anything more from me because I\u2019m not going to give him what he wants,\u201d Hamlin said. \u201cI\u2019m not going to give him the clip that he wants. Period. <\/p>\n \u201cSo you want me to talk about Spire? I\u2019ll talk about Spire. <\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no adults in the room, clearly, in that building. No adults. That\u2019s my opinion. <\/p>\n \u201cBecause how can you honestly think that\u2019s what best for your company if you\u2019re running a serious organization? I think they\u2019re unserious.\u201d<\/p>\n Spire Motorsports, which launched in 2018, has two drivers \u2013 Hocevar and Daniel Suarez \u2013 in the 16-driver Chase. However, Hocevar\u2019s repeated actions all but guarantee that everyone else on the track will prevent him from winning a championship, regardless of how good his cars are or how well he drives.<\/p>\n What do you think?
