With questions continuing to pop up for the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> on what’s going to happen with Joey Porter Jr., some have suggested the idea of a potential trade.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Porter, undoubtedly one of the better corners in the NFL, would go for a reasonable price if Pittsburgh decides to move on from him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the same time, if the Steelers are looking to win a Super Bowl, doing so might not make much sense. At the end of the day, the organization has to ensure it has a chance to compete with Aaron Rodgers in his last season, and moving on from Porter doesn’t help.<\/p>\n

Other teams around the NFL could certainly benefit from Porter getting traded, however, including the Detroit Lions<\/a>, who could still use some help in their secondary. One recent trade proposal would see the Lions land him, but it would cost them a decent amount.<\/p>\n

Lions Get: CB Joey Porter Jr.<\/p>\n

Steelers Get: 2027 1st-Round Pick<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Pittsburgh Steelers would certainly prefer to keep starting cornerback Joey Porter Jr. However, their desire to delay contract talks with him may force Pittsburgh to consider a trade instead.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf things get to a point where the Steelers don’t believe they can keep Porter, flipping him for a high 2027 pick will become an option for them. Aaron Rodgers isn’t the future at quarterback, and while Pittsburgh may hope that either Will Howard or Drew Allar can be, it wouldn’t hurt to have a pair of first-round picks in what is expected to be a QB-heavy draft,\u201d Kristopher Knox of BR wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A first-round pick for any player in the NFL is tough to give up, especially for a corner who has to be paid.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, Porter, at least if he’s willing to take a contract extension in Detroit, would be the type of guy that it makes sense to do so with.<\/p>\n
