Drivers travelling north of Brampton could encounter delays due to ongoing repairs to a sinkhole and emergency watermain work.<\/p>\n
Peel Public Works closed The Gore Road in Caledon between Mayfield Road and Healy Road on Friday after a sinkhole opened following rain and thunderstorms last week.<\/p>\n
A photo from the scene showed a small sinkhole in the roadway blocked off by pylons, and Peel Public Works shuttered The Gore Road to all traffic in both directions while the repairs were underway.<\/p>\n
The road was still closed through Saturday evening, and Peel Public Works said on Tuesday that the roadway is expected to reopen by the afternoon, following asphalt reinstatement.<\/p>\n
But more repair work is needed and will require single lane closures, the region says. Flag personnel will be onsite to assist traffic flow through the construction area, and drivers are being told to expect delays.<\/p>\n
Peel Public Works hasn\u2019t said how long the lane closures are expected to last.<\/p>\n
Also on Tuesday, the region said drivers north of Brampton should watch for lane closures on Airport Road at Larry Street in Caledon. Peel Public Works says repair crews are on the scene for paving work following a watermain break.<\/p>\n
Drivers are being asked to slow down and proceed with caution when crews are working in the area.<\/p>\n
