\n\tBeing one-fourth of the international K-pop supergroup BLACKPINK<\/a> is already more than one job. But in the trailer for the upcoming documentary Always Lalisa<\/a>, group member LISA<\/a> confronts the challenge of stepping away from the girl group she\u2019s called home for the past decade to fully dive into a solo era that included performing at the opening ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making her solo Coachella debut, serving on the 2026 Met Gala host committee and making her acting debut on the hit HBO series The White Lotus.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018you don\u2019t have to do it this crazy,’\u201d an unseen off-screen voice recalls telling the singer about her beyond packed 2025-2026 solo schedule. \u201cShe\u2019s like, \u2018no, I can do it.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe minute-long trailer for the doc that dropped on Wednesday morning (Sept. 9) opens with a montage of footage of the 29-year-old singer as a preteen and teen K-pop trainee, interspersed with film of her taking the stage for solo shows as her fans chant, \u201cLISA! LISA!\u201d While getting glammed up for a performance, she asks her team, \u201cDo I look like a rock star?\u201d They all agree she does.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn voice-over, LISA documents her decade with BLACKPINK, calling her bandmates \u2014\u00a0JENNIE, ROSE and JISOO \u2014\u00a0her \u201csoul mates\u201d amid footage of them hugging and goofing around backstage. As close as they\u2019ve become, however, LISA says they all agreed in 2025 to take a year off to focus on their own projects.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirector Sue Kim\u2019s (The Last of the Sea Women) doc follows LISA on that one year, in which the singer\/rapper packed in an insane amount of personal and K-pop firsts while dealing with the intense pressure of going it alone as she pushed into acting, building her own brand and trying to balance having a personal life outside of the camera\u2019s glare. Among her accomplishments were performing \u201cGoals\u201d<\/a> alongside Anitta and Rema at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, making her the first K-pop and first Thai artist to do so, as well as performing a solo set<\/a> at Coachella last year and being featured on the cover of Vanity Fair\u2018s summer 2026 issue.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe also became the first K-pop artist to serve on a Met Gala host committee this year, in addition to presenting at this year\u2019s Golden Globe Awards and making her well-received acting debut in the hit HBO series The White Lotus<\/a>. LISA also made history as the first K-pop artist to launch a Las Vegas residency with her upcoming four-show VIVA LA LISA<\/a> run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace (Nov. 13-14, 27-28). <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s really short,\u201d she says of the one-year off from BLACKPINK plan in the trailer, \u201cwhat should I do first?\u201d The scene then shifts to Thailand, where she filmed season three of White Lotus, with director\/show runner Mike White recalling how he fangirled out over the pop star when she arrived on set. \u201cShe comes in the room and I\u2019m like, [singsongy voice], \u2018Hi LISA!’\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe really had no days off,\u201d LISA laments of the pressure to do everything as we see her changing in and out of elaborate stage costumes, exhausted after a long rehearsal and shooting music videos on a busy city street at night. \u201cI just want to see what else I\u2019m capable of,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m finding myself as well \u2026 a new me.\u201d<\/p>\n
