According to Shams Charania of ESPN<\/a>, the Lakers have hired Miami Heat vice president of player personnel Eric Amsler as an assistant general manager to serve under Pelinka.<\/p>\n

After the team hired Rohan Ramadas as assistant general manager<\/a> back in May, the consensus was that the Lakers would bring another assistant to join Pelinka in the front office, a move they have now made with the addition of Amsler.<\/p>\n

Uncertainty Still Looms Over New Lakers Regime<\/p>\n

Recently, it was revealed that Kushner, not Iger as many presumed, would be the controlling owner of the Lakers franchise once the team’s sale becomes official, according to Charles Gasparino of The New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The deal is still under review by the NBA, but the fact is, it\u2019s Kushner \u2013 the 41-year-old brother of President Trump\u2019s son-in-law, Jared \u2013 who will be the lone controlling shareholder of the Lakers, sources close to the situation said. <\/p>\n

Clearly, there\u2019s a lot of confusion about the new Lakers regime, who will be calling the shots and what is in store for the team\u2019s operations moving forward.<\/p>\n

Lon Rosen, who took over for Tim Harris as president of business operations, has maintained his role with the team<\/a>, which provides some clarity for the immediate future.<\/p>\n

Jeanie Buss, however, is in the middle of a legal battle with the rest of the Buss family<\/a> over the sale of their remaining 17.8 percent stake in the team. If that sale goes through, she\u2019ll no longer be able to serve as Lakers governor, a post she\u2019s held for 13 years.<\/p>\n

So obviously, there\u2019s still a lot of moving parts in this regime change, and tweaks to the front office may be far from over. Only time will tell what is in store for the storied franchise when the dust finally settles on this situation in Los Angeles, which has become increasingly complicated.<\/p>\n
