A storm that swept through Winnipeg’s River Heights neighbourhood Sunday has now been confirmed as an EF1 tornado by the Northern Tornadoes Project.<\/p>\n

The NTP confirmed Wednesday that the tornado touched down around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6.<\/p>\n

An NTP ground and drone survey was completed on Sept. 8 and 9, documenting the reported damage.<\/p>\n

Tornado damaged homes, trees and vehicles<\/p>\n

The NTP says there was roof damage to homes, sheds, along with damage to trees and vehicles, including a car that was moved across a lawn.<\/p>\n

The damage was assessed as an EF1 tornado, with an estimated maximum wind speed of 155 km\/h.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The tornado travelled 2 km, with a maximum path width of 150 metres.<\/p>\n

The storm also caused significant flooding in parts of Winnipeg, including knee deep water in some areas of Crestview.<\/p>\n

Second tornado confirmed in Manitoba<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a second tornado was reported during the same storm in B\u00e9nard, Manitoba.<\/p>\n

The NTP says damage to several buildings and grain bins at a large farm property in the area was reported after the storm. One injury was also reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The damage was also assessed as an EF1 tornado, with an estimated maximum wind speed of 165 km\/h, a track length of 6.45 km and maximum path width of 460 m.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
