One of Winnipeg’s most storied arts and culture venues has announced the newest member of its leadership team.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The West End Cultural Centre shared on Wednesday that Jacob Brodovsky will be taking on the role of executive director with the venue. He will work alongside longtime artistic director Jorge Requena Ramos, who had previously held both roles with the organization.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“From our first conversations with Jacob, we were struck by his warmth, thoughtfulness, and deep appreciation for the ways arts organizations can serve communities,” said Ashley Au, the president of WECC’s board of directors in a statement shared to social media. “He brings a wealth of experience in organizational leadership, financial management, community building, and the arts, along with a real enthusiasm for what makes the WECC such a special place\u2014the people and the music.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brodovsky is no stranger to Winnipeg music fans. As a singer-songwriter, he has graced most of Winnipeg’s most prominent stages including the West End Cultural Centre as well as the\u00a02026 Winnipeg Folk Festival. His work was recognized by the Canadian Folk Music Awards back in 2024 with the English Songwriter of the Year award, and he released his latest album Tell the Kids We Tried back in July.<\/p>\n
