Mark your calendars because Brampton\u2019s annual free celebration of traditional Indian dance, music and food is just weeks away.<\/p>\n
Brampton\u2019s free community Garba is coming back for 2026 and will feature food, live performances and traditional dance.<\/p>\n
Garba is a lively folk dance from Gujarat, India, and is traditionally performed during Navratri, festivals and special occasions.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s event is sponsored by Algoma University, Bell and RBC, and will feature headline performances by Trusha Rami and Darshan Budheliya, local performers, food vendors and opportunities for attendees to join in the dancing and festivities.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnown for its energetic rhythm, colourful attire and circular formations, with performances accompanied by singing, hand clapping, cymbals and traditional percussion instruments such as the dhol and dholak,\u201d the city says.<\/p>\n
Food vendors will have a selection of authentic Indian cuisine, and guests are encouraged to wear their finest traditional Garba attire to fully immerse themselves in the celebration.<\/p>\n
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown says Garba celebrations during Navratri fill the city \u201cwith colour, energy and tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGarba brings our community together across the city, and the city of Brampton is proud to continue this annual tradition through Community Garba,\u201d Brown said in a statement. \u201cIt is a celebration of our city\u2019s cultural mosaic and an opportunity to experience the energy and joy of Garba.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s Community Garba will run on Sept. 25 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Brampton Sports Park Kabaddi Field, located at 7575 Kennedy Rd. S.<\/p>\n
