20-year-old Corey Day just signed a lengthy contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports<\/p>\n
Corey Day made his NASCAR O\u2019Reilly Series debut in the 2025 season. He\u2019s currently in his first full-time season and he\u2019s picked up two race wins (Talladega, Dover).<\/p>\n
For 2027, the driver from California will return to full-time NASCAR O\u2019Reilly Series competition for Hendrick Motorsports. He\u2019ll also enter his first career NASCAR Cup Series event.<\/p>\n
The details on the limited Cup Series schedule will be released at a later date.<\/p>\n
Rick Hendrick comments<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat Corey has accomplished in such a short time is remarkable,\u201d said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe came to us with generational talent but almost no experience racing on pavement. The fact that he\u2019s already competing for a championship at this level is extraordinary, and he\u2019s just beginning to scratch the surface.\u201d<\/p>\n
The team owner concluded, \u201cWe love Corey\u2019s character and how he fits our organization, and we\u2019re proud to have him with us for many years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jeff Gordon comments<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no substitute for seat time, which makes Corey\u2019s progress even more impressive,\u201d said Jeff Gordon, vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe see growth every weekend when he gets in the car. He puts in the work and isn\u2019t afraid to ask questions and apply what he learns. The Cup races next year will give him another opportunity to gain valuable experience and challenge himself at the highest level.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gordon concluded, \u201cIt\u2019s going to be fun to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n
Corey Day comments<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I joined Hendrick Motorsports, I knew I had a lot to learn. And I still do,\u201d Day said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the people here have really embraced me and invested a lot of time in helping me grow, both as a driver and a person. Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick give us all the resources we could possibly need. I\u2019m so grateful to them, Jeff Gordon, Jeff Andrews and the 500 teammates who put so much into our success.\u201d<\/p>\n
Day added, \u201cI\u2019m focused on winning a championship together this year and bringing many more trophies home to Hendrick Motorsports in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
