“It was a lot of fun. Going out to BC, it was cool to be invited. He’s been working hard all summer, and it was kind of a nice thing for us to go out and do. We had a little son-and-dad weekend away out in BC, and the weather was great out there, and the golf was awesome. Earning a spot at nationals

Xander qualified for nationals after winning a tournament in Estevan and finishing second at a tournament in Regina. At the national championship, the family focused on improvement rather than results.

“On his final day, he shot a 93, which was six strokes better than he did on day one. So that was our goal. We weren’t really going there to compete against everyone else. We were kind of going there to just play our game. On day one, he shot a 99, and then on day two, he shot a 93. That was kind of our goal going into day two, was just do better than day one.”
