And perhaps sharing parts of my healing journey might encourage someone else to keep going,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Ratile said she has \u201cknown depression from both sides\u201d \u2013 as someone who battled it herself, and as a partner to someone who did too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom battling depression myself, to loving a partner who battled it too. From surviving my own suicide attempt, to later losing my partner to suicide,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Read |<a href=\"https:\/\/www.news24.com\/drum\/celebs\/news\/to-us-you-were-dad-arthur-mafokate-announces-funeral-details-for-his-father-enos-mafokate-20260907-1382\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> \u2018To us, you were dad\u2019: Arthur Mafokate announces funeral details for his father, Enos Mafokate<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lehlogonolo Mabitsela died in February 2025, days after he and Ratile \u2013 who were reportedly estranged and going through divorce proceedings at the time \u2013 celebrated the seventh birthday of their twins. <\/p>\n<p>Ratile later told DRUM in an exclusive interview that \u201cit\u2019s turned out even worse,\u201d confirming his passing shortly after news first broke.<\/p>\n<p>In her latest post, Ratile was careful to frame her disclosure as a call to action rather than a plea for sympathy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI share this not for pity, but for awareness,\u201d she said, adding that depression \u201cis not always something you can see\u201d but can become \u201clife-threatening when someone is suffering without the support and treatment they need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She urged followers to \u201ccheck in on the people you love,\u201d be \u201ca safe space,\u201d and seek professional help where needed \u2013 naming therapy, medication, prayer and meditation as valid parts of healing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, I hold space for those who attempted suicide and survived.
