Canadian actor Jay Baruchel stars in \u2018The Stunt Driver\u2019 inspired by Canadian daredevil Ken Carter and K-pop idol Lisa debuted her documentary \u2018Always Lalisa.\u2019 <\/p>\n
TORONTO \u2014 K-pop superstar Lisa is one of the many celebrities expected on the Toronto International Film Festival\u2019s red carpets today.<\/p>\n
The Blackpink singer will be debuting \u201cAlways Lalisa,\u201d a documentary about the year she spent away from the pop quartet.<\/p>\n
Coincidentally, Rebel Wilson will also be in town promoting \u201cGirl Group,\u201d a film she wrote, directed and starred in alongside Jennifer Coolidge.<\/p>\n
Wilson plays a pop singer who winds up making some ill-advised choices when she takes a hiatus from her hit band to attempt a solo career.<\/p>\n
Also premiering today is \u201cThe Julia Set,\u201d which features Chase Infiniti as a gifted university student who gets romantically entangled with a teaching assistant.<\/p>\n
As for Cancon, Paralympian Rick Hansen was on deck to promote the documentary \u201cMan In Motion: The Rick Hansen Story.\u201d<\/p>\n
The film chronicles Hansen\u2019s quest to wheel 40,000 kilometres through 34 countries in the 1980s. Actor Ryan Reynolds was a producer on the film, though he wasn\u2019t in attendance Friday.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s one of several films spotlighting disabled activists at this year\u2019s edition of TIFF.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s such an honour, first of all, to be included with two people who I knew, Judith Heumann, a great American and global human rights activist, and Terry Fox was a dear friend and played on the wheelchair basketball team,\u201d Hansen said on the carpet.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing Heumann,\u201d about a 28-day sit-in that resulted in massive changes to civil rights for disabled Americans, opened the festival on Thursday night, and \u201cRun Terry Run\u201d is due to screen on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Also Thursday, Jay Baruchel is expected to walk the red carpet at the premiere of \u201cThe Stunt Driver,\u201d a comedy about a Canadian daredevil.<\/p>\n
