\n\tAs Courteney Cox<\/a> returns to the director\u2019s chair for her sophomore feature Evil Genius, she\u2019s ready to take on a franchise she\u2019s been with for 30 years.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile discussing the TIFF true-crime film at the Deadline Studio, the Golden Globe nominee revealed she\u2019d be open to directing an upcoming installment in the Scream<\/a> franchise, in which she\u2019s starred as Gale Weathers since the original 1996 movie.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think I should, honestly. Nobody knows more about that movie than I do,\u201d said Cox. \u201cI mean, and the creator, and Wes Craven, and the writers, and everybody who\u2019s been in it. But I think it\u2019d be great and fun and a good publicity thing. Get on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCox most recently reprised her role as reporter Gale Weathers in Scream 7, which reunited her with Neve Campbell\u2019s \u201cfinal girl\u201d Sidney Prescott. Despite holding the franchise\u2019s lowest Rotten Tomatoes score with a 30% critics rating, the Kevin Williamson-helmed installment was the highest-grossing sequel with nearly $208M globally.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing the record-breaking franchise haul, Spyglass has tapped sister duo Lilla and Nora Zuckerman<\/a> to write the upcoming eighth film.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Cox is promoting her latest directorial outing with Evil Genius, the true-crime story of the infamous \u201cpizza bomber\u201d case, devling into the more deeply human story of deception, desperation, and the line between victim and villain.<\/p>\n
