{"id":893313,"date":"2026-09-12T18:56:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T18:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/893313\/"},"modified":"2026-09-12T18:56:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T18:56:09","slug":"280-vehicles-stolen-over-a-30-day-period-in-mississauga-and-brampton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/893313\/","title":{"rendered":"280 vehicles stolen over a 30-day period in Mississauga and Brampton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police crime data indicates there were 280 vehicles stolen in Mississauga and Brampton over the last 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>According to Peel Regional Police\u2019s crime mapping tool, a combined 281 vehicle thefts occurred in Peel Region from Aug. 12 and Sept. 12, with 162 taking place in Mississauga, 118 in Brampton, and one in Caledon.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike previous reports, Peel Regional Police did not provide an updated breakdown of cases that had been solved, remained under investigation or were deemed unsolved.<\/p>\n<p>The crime map indicates that the vehicle thefts were mostly spread out between the two cities, with a noticeable cluster happening at Mississauga\u2019s Pearson Toronto Airport.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"839\" height=\"732\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-847494\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Screenshot-2026-09-12-144520.png\" alt=\"\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Vehicle thefts remain a common occurrence in the GTA \u2014 in recent news, four teens are collectively facing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insauga.com\/four-teens-facing-more-than-200-charges-in-organized-property-theft-investigation-in-toronto-durham\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">over 200 charges<\/a> following an investigation into multiple stolen vehicles and commercial break-and-enters across Durham and the GTA.<\/p>\n<p>Between June and September 2026, the group was responsible for 36 incidents, including eight commercial break-and-enters and 15 vehicle theft-related offences involving stolen vehicles, attempted vehicle thefts, thefts from vehicles, and licence plate thefts.<\/p>\n<p>Police have provided the following tips to help residents protect their vehicles from theft:<\/p>\n<p>if possible, park your vehicle in a locked garage, as the majority of the vehicles have been stolen from driveways.<br \/>\nuse a steering wheel lock. It will also act as a visible deterrent.<br \/>\ninstall a lock on the data port. This simple device can be purchased online and blocks access to the computer port where thieves gain access to reprogram the vehicle\u2019s keys.<br \/>\nconsider purchasing a quality video surveillance system. Ensure cameras are properly placed and functioning for day and night use.
