NFL stadiums love a wild food idea right up until the season it disappears from the menu. From a sausage built to feed six people to a fried chicken sandwich that mocked Chick-fil-A’s Sunday closures, seven of the boldest concession items ever sold at an NFL stadium didn’t survive past their first season. Every single one is gone now, and honestly, some of them deserved better.<\/p>\n

The Jumbo Jet Sausage<\/p>\n

The Jets went huge in 2015. The Jumbo Jet Sausage<\/a> started with a 24-inch Italian roll, then piled on a pound of shaved chicken sausage and a 28-inch, 1-pound Premio Italian sausage. It also carried half a pound of spicy Guinness beer cheese, a pound of caramelized onions and cabbage kraut, half a pound of crumbled spicy chorizo, and a bottle of green chimichurri called Jet Fuel. It was built to feed four to six people. MetLife Stadium’s current dining guide<\/a> lists footlong hot dogs and Premio sausage, but the Jumbo Jet is gone.<\/p>\n

4th and Long<\/p>\n

Arizona’s 4th and Long<\/a> arrived in 2019 as a 22-inch all-beef Vienna hot dog tucked into a bun that ran nearly two feet. The stadium sold it at the South Bridge for $24, with ketchup and mustard or optional chili and cheese. State Farm Stadium still goes big on hot dogs, including a Jumbo Dog listed at many stands. The 4th and Long does not appear in the current food guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Slim Chicken 2.0<\/p>\n

Philadelphia brought out Slim Chicken 2.0<\/a> in 2023, and the build sounded more like a dare than lunch. An apple fritter held Frosted Flakes fried chicken, Cooper Sharp cheese, honey-glazed bacon, cherry jam, and ghost chili. It was sold at Food Stand 134 for that season. Lincoln Financial Field’s current concessions page<\/a> has plenty of cheesesteaks, calzones, and local favorites, but Slim Chicken 2.0 is not listed.<\/p>\n

The B’more Stak<\/p>\n

Baltimore packed several hometown flavors into one tray in 2016. Aramark executive chef Dan Doyle created the B’more Stak<\/a> with French fries, shaved Baltimore pit beef, Maryland crab dip, and aged cheddar. The combination delivered beef, crab, and fries in one order without trying to be tidy. M&T Bank Stadium’s current food guide<\/a> still has plenty of Baltimore flavor, but the B’more Stak is not listed.<\/p>\n

John Howie’s Ultimate Bacon Burger<\/p>\n

Chef John Howie’s Ultimate Bacon Burger<\/a> was on CenturyLink Field menus in 2016. The Seahawks described the patty as a blend of USDA Choice beef and thick-cut bacon. Then it got applewood-smoked bacon and Canadian bacon on top. It was a three-layer argument for putting more bacon on a burger. The current concessions guide<\/a> at Lumen Field no longer lists John Howie or the Ultimate Bacon Burger.<\/p>\n

The Soul Food Egg Roll<\/p>\n

Cleveland gave a nearby restaurant a stadium stage in 2013. Southern Fusion Restaurant in Euclid supplied its Soul Food Egg Roll<\/a> to First Down Favorites locations around what was then FirstEnergy Stadium. It put a dish from a local restaurant directly into the Browns’ concession mix. Huntington Bank Field’s current food page<\/a> does not list the Soul Food Egg Roll or Southern Fusion.<\/p>\n

\"TwoClosed on Sunday<\/p>\n

Kevin Gillespie’s Closed on Sunday<\/a> sandwich turned Atlanta’s Sunday chicken problem into a joke you could eat. The fried chicken sandwich was still being sold at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for Super Bowl 53 in 2019. An Associated Press report described fried chicken with spicy pickled mayonnaise on honey-butter buns, while the name played off Chick-fil-A’s Sunday closure. Mercedes-Benz Stadium still lists Chick-fil-A as closed on Sundays, but Gillespie’s sandwich does not appear in the current vendor directory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Order the Weird Thing While You Can<\/p>\n

The boldest stadium foods rarely feel temporary when you are standing in line for them. Hot dogs<\/a> and other familiar staples may stick around, but giant sausages, cereal-crusted chicken sandwiches, and chef-built specials can disappear as menus change.
