Shakur Stevenson<\/a> will have to wait even longer for a showdown with long-term rival Gervonta Davis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shockwaves were sent through the sport earlier this week when It was announced that Davis would face Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an exhibition bout at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Friday November 14.<\/a><\/p>\n

After plans for a rematch between Davis and Lamont Roach Jr fell through<\/a>, boxing fans had help out hope that a \u2018dream-fight\u2019 between \u2018Tank\u2019 and Stevenson could finally take place in the near future, but this wasn\u2019t to be.<\/p>\n

Stevenson made his return to the ring last month as he outpointed Mexico\u2019s previously unbeaten contender William Zepeda at the Louis Armstrong Stadium on July 12, successfully defending his WBC lightweight title for the third time in the process.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TMZ Sports<\/a>, Stevenson revealed that he is currently in negotiations to face one of two names next, after an opportunity to face \u2018Tank\u2019 Davis had slipped through his fingers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got two names right now. Teo [Lopez] is front line and Lamont [Roach] is like right behind him so depending on how much money they offering and which one makes the most sense I\u2019ll fight either Teofimo Lopez or Lamont Roach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumours of a showdown between Stevenson and Roach have been circulating in recent weeks, after the WBC lightweight champion reportedly admitted that he would be willing to give \u2018The Reaper\u2019 an opportunity to face him.<\/p>\n

As for Lopez, the 28-year-old from Brooklyn currently reigns as the WBO super-lightweight champion, but could actually make the move back down to 135lbs to make a potential clash with Stevenson happen next.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Shakur Stevenson will have to wait even longer for a showdown with long-term rival Gervonta Davis.
