You only get one Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut!<\/p>\n

Two newcomers stepped into the Octagon against each other this weekend (Sat., Sept. 12, 2026) at Noche UFC 4<\/a> inside Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.<\/p>\n

Obviously, one had to win, and the other had to lose\u2014and one of them sure did lose brutally.<\/p>\n

Now that the dust has settled, let\u2019s grade their respective performances below:<\/p>\n

On just eight days\u2019 notice, Jessie Rosas\u2014the older brother of Raul Rosas Jr.\u2014was re-signed by the promotion<\/a> after previously getting cut<\/a> and matched against fellow newcomer Sean King III.<\/p>\n

Spoiler: it was a very quick fight.<\/p>\n

The two Featherweights exchanged low and body kicks to begin the action. Just 30 seconds into the fight, King ducked underneath a left hand and secured a body lock. As Rosas attempted to defend, King hoisted him into the air, trapped his left arm and violently slammed him head-first into the canvas.<\/p>\n

Rosas was knocked unconscious on impact, but King still managed to land several follow-up punches before the referee could jump in and stop the fight at 36 seconds (watch highlights<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It was a picture-perfect debut for King, who announced his arrival with one incredibly loud thud.<\/p>\n

Because the fight lasted less than one minute, King didn\u2019t get an opportunity to display much of his overall skill set. However, I can tell you he\u2019s a well-rounded prospect with strong wrestling, a sneaky submission game, and particularly nasty ground-and-pound.<\/p>\n

His striking continues to improve as well. At just 22 years old with a perfect 7-0 record, there is a lot to like about \u201cThe King of New Orleans\u201d\u2014UFC just needs to avoid rushing him.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d like to see King face Alberto Montes in his second Octagon appearance.<\/p>\n

As for Rosas, I disliked UFC\u2019s decision to re-sign him because he simply was not ready for this level of competition \u2026 Thirty-six seconds later, I feel even worse about it.<\/p>\n

Could you imagine what Miles Johns would have done to the poor kid?<\/p>\n

Rosas entered Noche UFC with a shiny 8-1 record, but most of those victories came against awful regional competition. That isn\u2019t necessarily a massive insult because padded records are extremely common on the regional scene nowadays, but his resume included a major warning sign.<\/p>\n

Rosas\u2019 only previous defeat came against longtime journeyman Keenan Lewis, who submitted him in the first round in 2024. It was a horrible loss then, and it looks even worse now.<\/p>\n

None of this means Rosas cannot eventually become a UFC-caliber fighter. He is only 23 years old and was competing one division above his natural Bantamweight class. He has plenty of time to improve\u2014but he needs significantly more seasoning before fighting inside the Octagon again.<\/p>\n

If UFC were smart, it would release Rosas again and allow him to develop properly on the regional scene. I doubt that happens, though.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I think Rosas goes 0-4 before eventually receiving his walking papers.<\/p>\n

If the promotion insists on keeping him, it must match him with someone near the absolute bottom of the Bantamweight roster and see what happens.<\/p>\n
