A similar proportion of adults suffer from depression in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/farnham\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Farnham<\/a> and Bordon, which is partly in our county.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/esher\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Esher<\/a> and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/walton\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Walton<\/a>, meanwhile, about one in nine adults (11%) have a diagnosis of depression, the fourth lowest rate in the South East.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The top five Surrey parliamentary constituencies with the highest rates of depression are:<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">1. Farnham and Bordon (15.36%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">2. Godalming and Ash (14.67%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">3. East Surrey (13.7%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">4. <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/epsom\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Epsom<\/a> and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/ewell\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Ewell<\/a> (13.35%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">5. <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/guildford\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Guildford<\/a> (13.32%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Surrey constituencies with the lowest rates of depression are:<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">1. Esher and Walton (11.45%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">2. <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/woking\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Woking<\/a> (11.77%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">3. Windsor (12.12%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">=4. <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/reigate\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Reigate<\/a> (12.34%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">=4. Runnymede and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/weybridge\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Weybridge<\/a> (12.34%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Neighbourhood data shows that diagnosis rates are higher in smaller communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In Farncombe, the neighbourhood area with the highest rates in Surrey, almost one in five adult residents have a formal diagnosis of depression recorded by their GP practice (18%).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">At the other end of the spectrum, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/cobham\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Cobham<\/a> in Elmbridge has the third-lowest rates in the South East (8%).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The top five neighbourhoods with the highest rates of depression in Surrey are:<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">1. Farncombe (18.4%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">2. Godalming North (17.8%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">3. <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/haslemere\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Haslemere<\/a> West (17.3%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">4. Godalming South (17.1%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">5. Haslemere East (17%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The neighbourhoods with the lowest rates in Surrey:<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">1. Cobham (7.6%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">2. Oxshott &amp; Stoke D&#8217;Abernon (8.5%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">2. Westcott, Ockley &amp; Capel (8.5%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">4. Virginia Water (9.5%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">5. Claygate (9.7%)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">You can see how high the rates of depression are where you live using our interactive map.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Responding to the figures, Gemma Byrne, Policy and Influencing Manager at mental health charity Mind said: \u201cDepression might feel like you get less enjoyment from the things you previously enjoyed, it might make you want to withdraw from loved ones, you might have trouble eating, sleeping, and exercising, and you can feel isolated or hopeless.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;You might also be thinking about ways to harm yourself or struggling with suicidal thoughts. These can all have a huge impact on your day-to-day life and make it difficult to manage tasks and self-care. It can affect your work, relationships, finances, and hobbies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cNo matter what kind of symptoms you have, everyone deserves to be able to access the help that they need.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThese figures show a significant number of people reporting poor mental health across the North West. While the exact reasons are unclear, we do know there are huge links between deprivation and mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cFor example, we know that struggling financially can take a huge toll on your mental health and equally, struggling with your mental health can make it harder to manage your finances.
