A new sculpture has been unveiled at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) Wallaceburg site.

The artwork, titled “Healing Hands”, depicts a butterfly resting on the index finger of a human hand.

The artist, Tyson Carr, is a multidisciplinary artist from Chatham-Kent, known for his sculptural work and his abstract paintings.

“There’s been a major theme of rebirth and renewal at CKHA’s Wallaceburg Site, and I wanted to translate that into a work of art,” said Carr. “For me, the butterfly symbolizes that transformation. It’s in its cocoon, and then it finally emerges, showing its beauty.”

This is the second and final addition to the hospital’s community-focused art initiative that began in 2024.

The goal of the artwork, funded by the municipality, is to create calming, reflective spaces that support healing and well-being.

“Healing Hands is a beautiful and peaceful addition to the Wallaceburg Site. It’s a wonderful example of how public art can enhance healthcare settings and celebrate the incredible creative talent we have in our own community,” said President and CEO of CKHA Adam Topp.
