{"id":896771,"date":"2026-09-15T15:12:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T15:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/896771\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T15:12:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T15:12:12","slug":"canada-an-attractive-market-to-global-investors-but-potential-yet-to-be-tapped-cpp-investments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/896771\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada an attractive market to global investors, but potential yet to be tapped: CPP Investments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The findings were released ahead of today\u2019s Canada Investment Summit, which will welcome more than 100 institutional investors from across the globe.\n<\/p>\n<p>Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benefitscanada.com\/news\/cir-news-news\/cppib-ceo-encouraged-by-domestic-policies-attracting-global-investment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CPP Investments CEO encouraged by domestic policies attracting global investment<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>About 30 per cent of global pension funds indicated Canada is their No. 1 market targeted for increased deployment, due to investor trust and opportunity.\n<\/p>\n<p>Investors identified digital and artificial intelligence infrastructure (65 per cent) as one of the leading sectors driving the next economic transformation, followed by energy (43 per cent), technology and semiconductors (42 per cent each).\n<\/p>\n<p>The survey found Canada is the highest ranked country for investing potential among institutions managing under US$50 billion, but its standing declines among those investors overseeing between $200 billion to more than $500 billion.\n<\/p>\n<p>Global investors are looking for a variety of factors when deploying capital, with 93 per cent of respondents indicating they want to see long-term government-backed offtake agreements for transition projects, followed by contracts for difference (90 per cent) as revenue-stabilization mechanisms, first-loss capital and tax-policy clarity (88 per cent each).\n<\/p>\n<p>The survey also pointed to an opportunity for the country to capitalize on the need for AI infrastructure, including energy resources, land, cooling capacity, fibre connectivity, critical minerals and resource and engineering expertise.<\/p>\n<p>Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benefitscanada.com\/news\/cir-news-news\/where-do-canadian-institutional-investors-stand-on-calls-for-increased-domestic-investments\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Where do Canadian institutional investors stand on calls for increased domestic investments?<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat begins as an AI investment quickly becomes an infrastructure investment \u2014 and the largest allocators are positioning around integrated infrastructure systems, not individual sectors.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>In a separate report, CPP Investments found the \u201cgeneration of competitive advantage belongs to markets that convert confidence into deployable capital.\u201d Canada, it noted, has attributes like stability, openness, regulatory trust, policy stability and transition relevance in the eyes of global investors.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComparative advantage attracts investor interest. Investibility determines whether capital deploys.
