{"id":896977,"date":"2026-09-15T19:26:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T19:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/896977\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T19:26:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T19:26:15","slug":"winnipeg-police-to-ramp-up-patrolling-of-bars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/896977\/","title":{"rendered":"Winnipeg police to ramp up patrolling of bars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Winnipeggers may soon see an increased police presence on their nights out as Winnipeg police (WPS) is set to ramp up patrolling in bars and other licensed businesses.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release Tuesday, WPS said its offices will conduct walkthroughs and proactive patrolling in the coming months to identify and remove those who pose a risk of violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemoval efforts will strategically target gang members and individuals involved in or associated with organized crime, with priority given to those who pose the greatest risk to public safety,\u201d WPS said.<\/p>\n<p>The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act provides police the authority to remove people suspected to be or involved in violence. The law also allows business owners to refuse entry to gang members.
