Spider-Man has swung to a new record. <\/p>\n

After nearly seven weeks in theaters, \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day\u201d has become the highest-grossing film of all time at the domestic box office, amassing a staggering $936.7<\/a> million \u2014 surpassing the long-held record of $936.6 million set by \u201cStar Wars: The Force Awakens.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cDoesn\u2019t get bigger than this,\u201d read a statement to the film\u2019s official Instagram<\/a> account. \u201cThank you to the fans for helping #SpiderManBrandNewDay make cinematic history \u2014 it\u2019s now the highest-grossing domestic release of ALL TIME at the North American box office.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cBrand New Day\u201d already roared past $2 billion at the worldwide box office, with $2.4 billion<\/a> in ticket sales, making it one of just eight films to cross the $2 billion mark.<\/p>\n

Several stellar weekends at the box office already pushed \u201cBrand New Day\u201d past a series of other records, including the biggest box office opening of all time and the second-biggest global opening of all time \u2014 providing a much-needed burst of energy for Marvel Studios amid growing superhero fatigue.<\/p>\n

After a nearly a decade of uneven box-office performance for Marvel, \u201cBrand New Day\u201d has broken a string of box-office records, overtaking \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d in several categories while coming remarkably close in others.<\/p>\n

Marvel Studios\u2019 president Kevin Feige attributes the staggering box office success of \u201cSpider-Man\u201d with the enduring appeal of Peter Parker and the star power of Tom Holland \u2014 who is now the highest-grossing actor of all time. <\/p>\n
