{"id":901613,"date":"2026-09-19T11:38:25","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T11:38:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/901613\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T11:38:25","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T11:38:25","slug":"71-vehicles-broken-into-in-mississauga-man-faces-dozens-of-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/901613\/","title":{"rendered":"71 vehicles broken into in Mississauga; man faces dozens of charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man faces dozens of charges after 71 vehicles were broken into in Mississauga earlier this month, resulting in \u201csignificant property damage and financial losses for residents,\u201d police say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incidents occurred during the early morning hours of Sept. 3 and Sept. 6, and targeted neighbourhoods throughout Mississauga,\u201d Peel Regional Police said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said the nearly six dozen vehicles were targeted by a culprit who either smashed car windows or entered through unlocked doors before stealing valuables.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile no vehicles were stolen and all vehicles were unoccupied at the time, the incidents resulted in significant property damage and financial losses for residents,\u201d police said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequent investigation by officers with the Peel police 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau led to the arrest of a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives have also identified \u201cpotential connections to similar vehicle crime investigations being conducted in Halton Region, Toronto, York Region and Waterloo Region,\u201d police said, adding Peel investigators are working closely with their counterparts across the Greater Toronto Area \u201cto determine the full scope of the accused\u2019s alleged activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cory Lowden, 34, of no fixed address, is charged with:<\/p>\n<p>Attempt to commit an indictable offence \u2014 46 counts.<br \/>\nTheft under $5,000 \u2014 16 counts.<br \/>\nMischief over $5,000 \u2014 15 counts.<br \/>\nTheft over $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>He was also arrested for two outstanding warrants related to separate fraud investigations, police noted, adding the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation continues.<\/p>\n<p>Last 30 Days: 52,755 Votes<\/p>\n<p>All Time: 1,526,226 Votes<\/p>\n<p>    3429 VOTES<br \/>\n    If a federal election were held today, what party would you vote for?    <\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding these incidents, or who believes they may have been a victim, is asked to call Peel police 11 Division CIB at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-848552\" class=\"wp-image-848552 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Car-break-ins-suspect-peel-cops.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"453\" height=\"567\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-848552\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cory Lowden, 34, of no fixed address.
