\n\tNearly three years after she was fired from the Scream franchise for speaking up in support of Palestinians, Melissa Barrera<\/a> sees the tides changing.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress recently expressed how \u201cemotional\u201d it made her to see Fennias and Ed Sheeran<\/a>\u2018s other openers dropping out of his Loop Tour<\/a> in support of Macklemore<\/a>, who was dropped from the tour<\/a> over his \u201cFree Palestine<\/a>\u201d remarks.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was so beautiful to see Finneas<\/a> and the band and all the opening acts pulling out in support of Macklemore. It made me emotional,\u201d Barrera told the Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cYou know, I didn\u2019t get that when it happened to me. I didn\u2019t have any of that happen. It was too soon. People were too scared. But it\u2019s good to see that almost three years later, at least things have changed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpyglass fired Barrera<\/a> in November 2023 over her social media posts on the Israel-Hamas<\/a> conflict and the \u201catrocities being committed against Palestinians,\u201d explaining the company has \u201czero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing her ousting, Jenna Ortega also exited the franchise<\/a>, later noting that the sequel \u201cwas all kind of falling apart<\/a>\u201d without Barrera to play its new \u201cfinal girl\u201d Sam Carpenter. Director Christopher Landon dropped out of the project<\/a> as well, citing \u201chighly aggressive and really scary\u201d death threats targeting his children<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tNeve Campbell was then brought back to reprise her role<\/a> as OG \u201cfinal girl\u201d Sidney Campbell for Scream 7 in March 2024, with original Scream (1996) writer Williamson on board to direct. She previously sat out Scream VI<\/a> (2023) over the low pay offer.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs the seventh installment of the slasher franchise premiered at Paramount Studios in February, \u201cFree Palestine\u201d protesters lined up<\/a> outside the entrance to the lot.
