{"id":903412,"date":"2026-09-20T23:22:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T23:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/903412\/"},"modified":"2026-09-20T23:22:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T23:22:11","slug":"trucking-company-warns-of-price-hikes-as-fuel-costs-climb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/903412\/","title":{"rendered":"Trucking Company Warns of Price Hikes as Fuel Costs Climb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/akita-truck.jpg\" class=\"header-image\" alt=\"Trucking Company Warns of Price Hikes as Fuel Costs Climb\"\/>\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The owner of a local trucking company says he will be forced to raise prices if oil prices remain high and the federal excise tax returns.<\/p>\n<p>Ottawa extended its <a href=\"https:\/\/vocm.com\/2026\/09\/03\/ottawa-extends-gas-tax-break-until-january-31\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tax relief <\/a>earlier this month to early in the new year  in an effort to keep costs down.<\/p>\n<p>Akita Equipment general manager Alex Driscoll says his company has already had to raise prices over the past year to keep up with the soaring cost of fuel. <\/p>\n<p>Analysts are warning that prices will<a href=\"https:\/\/vocm.com\/2026\/09\/16\/fuel-costs-may-double-from-last-years-prices-says-expert\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> climb even higher <\/a>due to continued limited supply.  Driscoll says like most businesses, as costs rise, so does the amount they charge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs this war continues, we\u2019ve had to slightly increase our prices,\u201d Driscoll says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo I think that the price has impacted everything out there including consumer goods? Absolutely.
