\n\tKit Harington<\/a> didn\u2019t think twice when he got the call to join HBO\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter\u201d series as Gilderoy Lockhart<\/a>, admitting that he\u2019s \u201ca bit of a nerd\u201d for the wizarding world.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking on Josh Horowitz\u2019s \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d podcast, the \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d star revealed the personal connection he has to the \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d books \u2014 and why saying \u201cyes\u201d to the show was a no-brainer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI listen to the Stephen Fry audiobooks. And I do that because my brain is incredibly busy, especially at night, and I\u2019ve always found going to bed very difficult. My brain doesn\u2019t turn off,\u201d Harington said. \u201cWhen I got sober, that got especially bad. And so I started listening to \u2018Harry Potter\u2019 audiobooks, and now they\u2019re the thing I listen to every night. So they have a very special place in my heart.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn fact, Harington was recently part of Audible\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter\u201d audiobooks as the voice of Lockhart \u2014 a famous yet arrogant wizard who becomes the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts \u2014 before the TV series came his way. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen I knew they were doing this show, I was like, \u2018I think that\u2019s a brilliant idea, I think they can really delve into it further than the films did.\u2019 I\u2019m fully supportive of it,\u201d Harington said. \u201cAnd then I got called to be in it, and that was just a very simple, \u2018Yes, please!’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHarington took over the role of Lockhart, who will first be seen in Season 2, from Nicholas Hoult after he exited the series due to scheduling conflicts. Harington joked that it \u201cwasn\u2019t hard\u201d for him to step into the shoes of the self-centered professor.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s addicted to himself. He\u2019s just a tiny step to my left,\u201d Harington said with a laugh. <\/p>\n

\n\tWith filming on Season 2 already underway, Horowitz asked Harington if he had started discussing his character\u2019s look yet. \u201cYes, and I\u2019m going to say highly little about anything because it\u2019s very secretive,\u201d Harington said. \u201cBut yes, I\u2019m engaging with that as we speak.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHarington went on to say that stepping onto set for the first time will be special for him as \u201cI\u2019m a bit of a nerd for it and I love it like I do.\u201d And when Horowitz enquired what Hogwarts house Harington identifies with, he replied: \u201cI\u2019m Gryffindor, obviously!\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe British actor said he is especially excited because filming the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d series at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden allows him to stay present for his two young children. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c[\u2018Harry Potter\u2019] films down the road from me. So I get to be a dad; I get to go play in a world I love,\u201d he said. \u201cGenuinely, right now I\u2019m very content.\u201d<\/p>\n
