NYU Stern professor and entrepreneur Scott Galloway says Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<\/a>META<\/a>) may be turning years of user data into an AI advantage as its new Muse agent gains traction. <\/p>\n “No one violates privacy like Meta,” Galloway said<\/a> on Prof G Markets, arguing that the personal context Meta has accumulated could make Muse more useful than rivals starting from scratch. <\/p>\n Meta Already Knows You <\/p>\n Galloway called Meta “the largest first-party data miner in history,” saying CEO Mark Zuckerberg understands the value of information accumulated through Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. <\/p>\n Galloway said Muse can start with context about where users eat and live and who their friends are that another AI company might take “years to build.” <\/p>\n Muse, launched Sept. 8<\/a>, can send emails, book travel, shop and carry out tasks across services users choose to connect. Meta says users decide how much access the agent receives. <\/p>\n The app climbed<\/a> to the No. 1 spot among free apps on Apple’s U.S. App Store, ahead of ChatGPT. <\/p>\n Meta May Not Need the Best AI Model <\/p>\n Polymarket<\/a> traders give Meta about a 3% chance of having the world’s best AI model at the end of 2026, well behind Anthropic at roughly 72%. More than $1.3 million has traded on the market. <\/p>\n That is the race Galloway argues Meta may not need to win. <\/p>\n His point is that consumers may care less about which company has the highest-ranked model than what its AI can actually do for them. Muse is built around everyday tasks such as booking reservations, managing schedules, shopping and canceling subscriptions. <\/p>\n In an informal Prof G Markets test, Muse reportedly booked a restaurant in under a minute. ChatGPT and Claude failed to complete the reservation, while Google’s Gemini got there only after several confirmations. <\/p>\n But that approach depends on other companies letting Muse act on their platforms. <\/p>\n Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<\/a>AMZN<\/a>) blocked Muse from shopping on its site Sunday night, citing privacy, security and transparency concerns. Meta says Muse cannot see users’ passwords or payment details. <\/p>\n Meta’s internal testing reportedly revealed security and reliability<\/a> problems before launch. <\/p>\n Trust may also limit adoption.
