Friesen Travel Group is expanding beyond Ontario for the first time, acquiring two long-standing Expedia Cruises locations in Winnipeg, Manitoba.<\/p>\n
The acquisition brings the company\u2019s network to 20 storefronts across Ontario and Manitoba operating under the Expedia Cruises banner and marks the beginning of a broader Western Canadian growth strategy.<\/p>\n
Friesen Travel Group, the largest multi-location franchise owner within the Expedia Cruises network, said it plans to open three additional Winnipeg locations over the next 36 months.<\/p>\n

Friesen said technology has changed how consumers research trips but hasn’t diminished the role of travel professionals.<\/p>\n
\u201cTechnology has made it easier to search for travel, but it has not replaced the confidence that comes from working with someone who understands you, can navigate the details and is there when plans change,\u201d Friesen said. \u201cWe believe demand for knowledgeable, dedicated travel professionals will continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Manitoba expansion is also expected to create new opportunities for people looking to enter the travel industry.<\/p>\n
