in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Diode laser hair removal systems and diode laser therapy systems sold under the \u201cSoprano\u201d brand by Beijing-based Perfectlaser Technology Co., Ltd. have been deemed \u201ccounterfeit\u201d by Health Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese counterfeit devices have been advertised and sold to clinics in Canada,\u201d the agency stated in a notice issued on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInformation on the label of the counterfeit product indicates the device is manufactured by Beijing Perfectlaser Technology Co., Ltd.,\u201d Health Canada added, clarifying that \u201cauthentic\u201d Soprano devices are actually manufactured by Alma Lasers Ltd. out of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>It went on to note that Beijing Perfectlaser Technology Co., Ltd. \u201cprovided a falsified medical device licence and falsely represented the products as authorized medical devices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What patients should do<\/p>\n<p>Patients or clients who have received laser therapy services and have health concerns, including immediate pain, reddening skin, or swelling, should consult a licenced health-care professional.<\/p>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with any health product-related side effects or complaints is also asked to report to Health Canada.<\/p>\n<p>What clinics should do<\/p>\n<p>The federal health agency noted that purchasers may have been misled into believing the device has been authorized for sale and meets regulatory requirements \u2014 but they do not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCounterfeit health products are imitations of authentic products but are not the same and may pose serious health risk due to their unknown safety and effectiveness,\u201d officials warned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sale of counterfeit health products is illegal in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-async=\"\">Clinics with laser hair removal machines and\/or therapy systems from the Soprano brand with a permanent label bearing \u201cPerfectlaser\u201d are advised to compare it with the corresponding information listed on the device licence in Health Canada\u2019s <a data-evt-val=\"{\" control_fields=\"\" link=\"\" devices=\"\" active=\"\" licence=\"\"
