Brianna Turner didn’t hold back when addressing critics using the WNBA as a political talking point.

After weeks of media noise and political stunts from outside figures, the conversation around transgender athletes in the WNBA has largely quieted down. The attempts to turn the league into a culture war talking point have lost steam, shifting public focus right back to where players want it, the basketball itself.

However, Las Vegas Ace’s star Brianna Turner still has the transgender issue in the back of her mind and is actively pushing for the topic to be put to bed.

She said: “I hate being used as something to dismantle the rights of trans people. The people doing this, they don’t care about the WNBA. They just want to make a mockery of it. They kind of want to embarrass us. They could care less about the WNBA.”

Her interview with Them cut straight to the core of how public debates get manipulated. She isn’t just defending trans rights, she’s calling out bad-faith actors who use women’s sports as a shield to push political agendas, like Enes Kanter and Royce White.

While things have cooled down recently, both figures spent weeks pushing their agendas. Kanter taking a direct, hands-on approach while White leaned into a mock persona called “Royshia.”
