Sheeran addressed the controversy during his concert in <\/a>Philadelphia on Saturday, saying what was happening in Gaza was \u201ccatastrophic and unjustifiable\u201d. He apologised to fans, saying: \u201cI\u2019ve had to take and make difficult decisions, and I am making mistakes, and I\u2019m so, so sorry.\u201d He added that he wanted his music and shows to be about unity and humanity, not politics.<\/p>\n Church, who has previously been vocal about her support for Palestinians, said: \u201cEd Sheeran, we\u2019re watching you,\u201d during a gig in Cardiff on Sunday, and urged the audience to chant \u201cfree Palestine\u201d.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cWhilst he [Sheeran] has made millions and has an enormous following \u2013 he has an enormous platform to do real good in the world \u2013 he chose consumerism and capitalism over doing the right thing.<\/p>\n \u201cSo we say the same thing to Ed Sheeran because fuck the fact that musicians shouldn\u2019t be involved in politics. Fuck that shit. Politics is life.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cEd Sheeran, we\u2019re watching you,\u201d and repeated the phrase multiple times with her bandmates.<\/p>\n Church has taken part in pro-Palestinian demonstrations and has been a vocal opponent of the government\u2019s proscription of Palestine Action<\/a>. She has said the conflict has \u201cmassively changed\u201d her.<\/p>\n Macklemore claimed that Robert Kraft \u2013 the CEO of the Kraft Group, which owns Gillette Stadium \u2013 personally called Sheeran to say he would not be allowed to perform at the venue. Sheeran later said he would not be drawn into a public debate about the war in Gaza and that it was \u201cthe promoter\u2019s decision\u201d to remove Macklemore<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Saturday, Sheeran became emotional as he said he had been unsure \u201cwhether this tour would be carrying on\u201d and \u201cwhether I even wanted to be an artist at all\u201d after criticism levelled at him.<\/p>\n This included, just hours earlier, a Saturday Night Live UK sketch, which depicted the singer as \u201csitting on the fence\u201d as war broke out between humans and AI robots.<\/p>\n Demonstrators protesting outside an Ed Sheeran concert in Philadelphia. I don\u2019t want to alienate any of my fans \u2013 humans or robots,\u201d cast member Annabel Marlow said, as Sheeran. \u201cA lot of my tickets are bought by scalping bots.
