{"id":905883,"date":"2026-09-22T23:04:17","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T23:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/905883\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T23:04:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T23:04:17","slug":"mother-bear-that-wandered-into-b-c-store-killed-by-conservation-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/905883\/","title":{"rendered":"Mother bear that wandered into B.C. store killed by conservation officers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The B.C. <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/conservation-officer-service\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Conservation Officer Service<\/a> says it has killed one of the two bears that <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/12067687\/mother-baby-bear-wander-bc-pharmacy-viral-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">wandered into a Pharmasave in Hope on Sunday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1790118255_863_70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Conservation officers were called to the Pharmasave around 2 p.m. following a report of a mother black bear and her cub inside the store.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1790118257_147_national.jpg\" alt=\"Get breaking Canada news delivered to your inbox as it happens so you won't miss a trending story.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tGet breaking National news<\/p>\n<p>Get breaking Canada news delivered to your inbox as it happens so you won&#8217;t miss a trending story.<\/p>\n<p>When officers arrived, they found the bears outside the store and in the neighbourhood and they tranquilized and assessed both bears.<\/p>\n<p>The Conservation Service said that the mother bear was \u201cconfirmed to be the same animal that entered the store and with a conflict history in the area\u201d and she was euthanized.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Environment<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The cub was released into a \u201cwilderness area\u201d according to conservation officers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBears that learn to associate people with food, frequent populated areas and enter homes or stores are not candidates for relocation or rehabilitation, due to the risk to public safety,\u201d the Conservation Service said in a statement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The B.C.
