\n\tBritney Spears<\/a> and her ex-husband Kevin Federline have done a good job of keeping their two sons out of the public eye. But in a new chat with Interview<\/a> magazine titled \u201cWhat Does It Feel Like to Be Jayden James?,\u201d the couple\u2019s youngest finally opens up about his love of music, his car obsession, first crush and what it feels like to be both hardly known and heavily scrutinized. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the rare glimpse into the 20-year-old budding male model\u2019s personal life, James offers a succinct and telling answer to the question, \u201cWhat does it feel like to be you?\u201d His response? \u201cIt feels like I always have something to prove, even though I don\u2019t need to prove anything.\u201d In a testament to what feelings that pressure can evoke, he adds that \u201cseeking approval\u201d is overrated. \u201cThe more you try to please others, the more you lose yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOne person whose approval he clearly doesn\u2019t have to chase is retired pop star mom Britney, who has often taken to her socials to shout praise from the rooftops<\/a> about her son\u2019s musical skills. Back in 2025, Spears posted a pair of Instagram clips of Jayden showing off his piano-playing and rap skills. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn one clip, Jayden plays an unidentified song on the piano while his mom walks through her living room and proclaims, \u201cthat\u2019s sick!,\u201d captioning the clip \u201cWOW WOW WOW !!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJayden, who made his official runway debut walking for Vetements in their spring\/summer 2027 menswear show during Paris Fashion Week in June of this year, shared a few salient facts about his likes and loves in the interview. He noted that playing Minecraft reminds him of his childhood, that his most recent purchase was a Nord Stage 4 synthesizer, that he \u201ccan\u2019t wait\u201d to make music on and that \u201cbro\u201d is his most overused word.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also shared that music is what he turns to to feel better, saying, \u201cproducing music or playing piano. Expressing myself through music has always been my best therapy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs the scion of pop royalty, Jayden seems to understand the importance of putting on a good face, admitting that he often fakes the idea that \u201cI have everything figured out,\u201d while adding that he would love it if people would stop asking him questions loaded with assumptions. \u201cI\u2019d rather people get to know me rather than assume they already do,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\n\tHe\u2019s also picked up some useful life skills from another obsession, anime series Dragon Ball, describing young warrior Son Goku as his 13-year-old North star. \u201cIn a way, I still look up to him because he always reminds me to try to surpass my own limits,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
