{"id":908609,"date":"2026-09-25T02:46:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T02:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/908609\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T02:46:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T02:46:08","slug":"flyers-trevor-zegras-penalized-for-jersey-infraction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/908609\/","title":{"rendered":"Flyers&#8217; Trevor Zegras penalized for jersey infraction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>They&#8217;re not the fashion police, but the NHL is still cracking down on the state of players&#8217; uniforms. <\/p>\n<p>The league&#8217;s stricter enforcement on how players wear equipment \u2014 which includes jerseys, neckguards, visors and helmets \u2014\u00a0claimed its first victim on Thursday night, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/philadelphia-flyers\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"philadelphia-flyers\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/players\/trevor-zegras\/7c8b45f3-deaf-41c4-939f-2d6e86b22bd3\" class=\"sn-player-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-player=\"7c8b45f3-deaf-41c4-939f-2d6e86b22bd3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Trevor Zegras<\/a> was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for improperly wearing equipment. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FriedgeHNIC\/status\/2103282896811212934\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FriedgeHNIC\/status\/2103282896811212934\" rel=\"nofollow\">Under new enforcement guidelines<\/a>, a player must begin his shift with his jersey untucked. There will be no warning or penalty issued if a jersey rides up during the course of play, but it must remain untucked when a player next steps on the ice for his next shift.<\/p>\n<p>One warning will be given before a two-minute penalty is assessed. Per Sportsnet&#8217;s Elliotte Friedman, another infraction will lead to a misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily for Zegras, his fashion faux pas did not harm his Flyers in their pre-season finale, as they topped the Boston Bruins 2-0.
