Layne Riggs enters the weekend as the points leader despite a 32nd-place finish at Bristol, holding a slim three-point advantage over the field. The Front Row Motorsports driver has already shown speed on intermediate tracks this season and nearly won at Kansas in 2024, finishing second.

Riggs is joined by teammate Chandler Smith, who sits third in the standings heading into Saturday’s 200-mile event. Smith owns three top-10 finishes in five Truck Series starts at Kansas and remains one of the strongest title contenders as the playoffs continue.

The Front Row duo faces intense competition from several organizations with extensive Kansas success.

Among them is McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, which brings one of the deepest lineups to the speedway. Former Kansas winner Christian Eckes enters the weekend eighth in the standings after a difficult playoff opener but returns to one of his best tracks. Eckes owns a victory at Kansas, six top-five finishes and eight top-10s in Truck Series competition at the venue.

“Kansas is a place that gives you some of the most options as a driver of anywhere we go,” Eckes said. “I’ve been fortunate to run pretty well there over the years and have always felt comfortable. We need to improve our execution this weekend and dig ourselves back out of the hole we’re in, but we’re more than capable of it.”

Teammate Daniel Hemric also arrives with confidence after steadily climbing the standings in recent weeks. Hemric has never finished outside the top 10 in three Truck Series starts at Kansas.

“It’s been a while since we raced at a true intermediate and I think we’ll have a good package to work from,” Hemric said. “We’re going to need long-run pace. If you have the right balance, the racetrack gives you enough options to move forward if you’re stuck in traffic.”

While MHR brings experience, Kaulig Racing arrives with momentum and youth.

Rookie championship leader Brenden “Butterbean” Queen has enjoyed considerable success at Kansas throughout his stock car career, including two ARCA Menards Series victories. The Virginia native believes the track suits his driving style.

“I’m really excited to get back to Kansas,” Queen said. “It has been one of my favorite tracks. You’ve got so many lanes and so many options to move around. It’s really good racing. This track has been really good to me.”

Kaulig’s lineup also includes veteran Corey LaJoie and rookie Timothy “Mini” Tyrrell, while IndyCar veteran Conor Daly returns for another start in Ram’s Free Agent Driver Program.

“Kansas is a completely different animal,” Daly said. “It’s fast, aerodynamic-dependent and wide open. You really have to nail your setup and trust the truck through those long corners.”

Another team to watch is Spire Motorsports, which has already won at Kansas with Carson Hocevar and enters the weekend with high expectations for Nick Sanchez. Sanchez has built an impressive record at the track across multiple NASCAR series with two victories and eight top-10 finishes in nine career starts.

“Kansas is a track where I feel like I’ve always run good,” Sanchez said. “I’m excited to go there and have another shot at a win. I think we’re more than capable of that.”

Spire will also field veteran Brennan Poole, who returns to Truck Series competition for the opportunity to drive one of the organization’s competitive entries.

Outside the playoff picture, several young drivers face important learning opportunities. Niece Motorsports will bring rookies Connor Hall, Parker Eatmon and Landen Lewis to Kansas for their first starts at the 1.5-mile oval. The trio hopes to capitalize on the organization’s strong Kansas history that includes a victory and multiple top-five finishes.

Saturday’s race also carries added significance as the Truck Series enters the stretch run of the season. With only six races remaining after Kansas, every point becomes increasingly valuable for drivers hoping to keep their championship dreams alive.

As the Chase moves from Bristol’s half-mile confines to Kansas’ wide, multi-groove layout, teams that can manage tires, execute on long runs and adapt to changing track conditions may find themselves leaving the Sunflower State with a significant advantage in the title fight.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Kansas Speedway on Saturday for the second…

[446
49,48,634,82
post-910373","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nascar","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-nascar","tag-sports
["GET
