The dream fight between Great Britain\u2019s two great heavyweight champions of the modern boxing era may be in jeopardy just days after it was announced as the feud between Dana White and Eddie Hearn could upend the bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.<\/p>\n
The Joshua-Fury matchup would have been a lot more appetizing several years ago when both fighters were at their peak. Both held world championships at one point and were undefeated deep into their careers. But both were defeated twice by Ukranian champ Oleksandr Usyk. In recent years, Fury has been in and out of retirement while Joshua lowered himself to fighting Jake Paul.<\/p>\n
But in spite of never crossing paths due to the complications and ridiculousness of the boxing world, it was finally announced last week that Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury would meet in the ring on December 11 in Cardiff, Wales on Netflix.<\/p>\n
But just a couple days after the fight announcement, there are serious questions about whether it will move forward thanks to the bitter feud between promoters Dana White and Eddie Hearn.<\/p>\n
While Hearn has followed his father Barry as one of the UK\u2019s top promoters and made his name in boxing, White is attempting to conquer his territory after bringing UFC to global prominence. The two have traded barbs publicly<\/a> on multiple occasions<\/a> as White launched Zuffa Boxing.<\/p>\n Just how deep does the feud go? The mere mention of White\u2019s name in the announcement of the Fury-Josha fight is now threatening to have it called off.<\/p>\n The Netflix announcement<\/a> of the fight states, \u201cH.E. Turki Alalshikh\u2019s The Ring and Dana White will collaborate to promote the event.\u201d<\/p>\n Fury is promoted by Frank Warren and Queensbury. Anthony Joshua is promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom. But the fight was mediated and brought to life by Turki Al-Sheikh, who is partners with White<\/a> on Zuffa and is the sometimes controversial owner of Ring Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, Eddie Hearn has insisted that Dana White cannot be involved with the fight because of their longstanding rivalry. No one talks to each other. So I speak to Sela and Turki, no, Dana White is not involved in the fight. You\u2019ve got a contract that says that. And then Netflix says, \u2018Oh yes, the fight is in conjunction with Dana White.\u2019 So now we have to go through that process and deal with it.
