Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a> veteran winger Miles Wood<\/a> has been placed on waivers less than a week before the team\u2019s season opener. <\/p>\n

Wood is entering the fourth season of a six-year, $15 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $2.5 million. <\/p>\n

The 31-year-old Buffalo native scored eight goals and six assists over 54 games with the Blue Jackets last season, his first season with the franchise. <\/p>\n

Columbus acquired Wood from the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in June 2025. <\/p>\n

Selected by the New Jersey Devils<\/a> in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Wood has tallied 99 goals and 97 assists over 567 career games with the Devils, Avalanche and Blue Jackets. <\/p>\n

He has five goals over 25 playoff games. <\/p>\n

Engvall also on waivers<\/p>\n

The New York Islanders<\/a> placed forward Pierre Engvall on waivers on Saturday for the purpose of assignment to the AHL\u2019s Hamilton Hammers.<\/p>\n

Engvall is in the the fourth year of a seven-year, $21 million deal, featuring an average annual value of $3 million. <\/p>\n

The 30-year-old missed the entire 2025-26 campaign due to an ankle injury. <\/p>\n

Engvall played 62 games for the Isles during the 2024-25 season, scoring eight goals and seven assists. <\/p>\n

Selected in the seventh round of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>, Engvall has tallied 65 goals and 70 assists in 380 career games with the Leafs and Islanders. <\/p>\n

He has two goals and six assists over 28 career postseason games. <\/p>\n
