{"id":911073,"date":"2026-09-27T02:12:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-27T02:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/911073\/"},"modified":"2026-09-27T02:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-27T02:12:10","slug":"vietnam-and-canada-deepen-ties-as-to-lam-concludes-landmark-state-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/911073\/","title":{"rendered":"Vietnam and Canada deepen ties as To Lam concludes landmark state visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Floyd Brenz., Philippine Canadian Inquirer<br \/>September 27, 2026<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-512517\" class=\"wp-image-512517 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Screenshot-2026-09-27-at-9.48.51-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1718\" height=\"1114\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-512517\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Courtesy: VNA<\/p>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam has concluded his state visit to Canada, a trip that marked a new chapter in relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation departed Ottawa on September 25 after a series of meetings with Canadian officials, business leaders, investors, experts and members of the Vietnamese community.<\/p>\n<p>A major outcome of the visit was the decision by Vietnam and Canada to elevate their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, creating a new framework for deeper cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership covers eight areas, including trade and investment, infrastructure and supply chains, artificial intelligence and advanced technology, energy and sustainable development, agriculture, defense and security, and education and people-to-people ties.<\/p>\n<p>During his visit, To Lam also delivered a policy speech at the Parliament of Canada, where he highlighted opportunities for closer cooperation in science, technology and innovation and emphasized the importance of maintaining a stable and peaceful Indo-Pacific region.<\/p>\n<p>Economic cooperation was another key focus, with Vietnam and Canada discussing stronger trade and investment ties.
