Darren Till is making no apologies for the way his fight with Yoel Romero went down at BKFC94 in Manchester on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Their highly anticipated clash<\/a> ended up being a bit of a dull affair with a lot of clinching and standing on the outside. In the end, the judges controversially gave the five round fight to Till<\/a> with 49-46 scores, despite Romero scoring a knockdown (that wasn\u2019t counted) and splitting \u201cThe Gorilla\u201d open under his right eye.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I had got bored and listened to the crowd and lunged in, I\u2019d have got caught and dropped and potentially knocked out,\u201d Till said during the post-fight press conference. \u201cSo analyzing through the fight where you\u2019re going through the motions and watching and you know what he\u2019s waiting for and what he\u2019s doing, I couldn\u2019t lunge in. So I had to play the chess match \u2026 and it just became that over the five rounds, just trying to pop each other.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was just one of them fights. Over 18 years you have them fights. He had a terrific fight in the UFC against Luke [Rockhold], then he had a f–king boring fight against [Israel] Adesanya \u2026 Well, I wouldn\u2019t say boring because if you understand the mechanisms of it, it was a great chess match. So it is what it is sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou know what, sometimes you have these fights where you\u2019ve both gotta just do what you can do, like,\u201d Till told talkSPORT. \u201cYoel\u2019s a big, big strong guy, you\u2019ve got to respect his power, his size, his posture. So we had a five round good fight, I think. The crowd loved it at times and I got the win. It was a close fight and I got the win and I\u2019m happy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOne of the most feared men on earth, not a lot of people want to fight Yoel. He is a feared man. I couldn\u2019t make it out [how he was fighting], so I had to be clever, cuz when you\u2019re an experienced fighter you can\u2019t just have your hands down and lunge in. You\u2019re going to take it. I had to figure the s–t out and that\u2019s what I did.\u201d<\/p>\n During the post-fight press conference, Till noted that he had lots of options but was sticking with Bare Knuckle FC for now.<\/p>\n \u201cThe owner of Misfits wished me good luck before going out,\u201d Till said. \u201cThe owner of MVP wished me good luck. Queensbury wished me good luck. I\u2019m with Bare Knuckle for the time being, now. I\u2019m with David [Feldman]. I\u2019m with the gang here now \u2026 And I just want to see where it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s f–king brutal. My fingers are hurting, my knuckles are hurting, my face is hurting. It\u2019s just such a thrill. I can sit here and say I\u2019ve done every combat sport on earth. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any higher thrill or adrenaline. So for the time being, I\u2019m firmly with Bare Knuckle.\u201d<\/p>\n Till told talkSPORT that any discussion of a fight at the legendary Anfield Stadium was BKFC\u2019s doing, but he wouldn\u2019t say no to it.<\/p>\n \u201cIf they\u2019re bringing it to my attention and they think they can do Anfield with me and Mike Perry or if they want to do Tommy [Fury], then that\u2019s fine, I\u2019m up for it now,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m going to go away, I\u2019m going to cure my injuries, and I\u2019m up for that fight now. I\u2019ll sign and we\u2019ll get it done, we\u2019ll start the press tour, we\u2019ll start the promos.
