{"id":913011,"date":"2026-09-28T16:34:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T16:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/913011\/"},"modified":"2026-09-28T16:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T16:34:09","slug":"south-surrey-walk-roll-event-raises-105k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/913011\/","title":{"rendered":"South Surrey walk\/roll event raises $105K"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              South Surrey walk\/roll event raises $105K<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 9:20 am Monday, September 28, 2026<\/p>\n<p>An event focused on boosting support for programs and services benefitting people with developmental disabilities exceeded its fundraising goal. <\/p>\n<p>The Walk and Roll fundraiser, held Sept. 26 at South Surrey Athletic Park, crossed the finish line with $105,000 in donations collected, organizers announced at day\u2019s end.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe surpassed our original $100,000 fundraising goal!\u201d Iayisha Khan, communication and event specialist for UNITI, said by email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNearly 300 people joined us today at South Surrey Athletic Park for Walk &amp; Roll, and we could not be more grateful for a community that continues to show up for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UNITI is a partnership of Semiahmoo House, The Semiahmoo Foundation and Peninsula Estates Housing Society. It \u201cexists to ensure that all members of society are seen as equal and have the same rights, resources and responsibilities,\u201d information at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uniti4all.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">uniti4all.com<\/a> states.<\/p>\n<p>Funds raised will help \u201ccreate opportunities (for people living with disabilities) to participate, contribute and belong,\u201d said Khan.<\/p>\n<p>Donations to the campaign will be accepted until Oct. 11.
