\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExplanation: What causes the swirl in the Shrimp Nebula? Its high speed is likely. What is sure is that Sh2-188<\/a> is one of the larger planetary nebulas<\/a> on the night sky, by angular size<\/a>, spanning about half the diameter of the Moon<\/a>. Moreover, the white-dwarf<\/a> core — leftover from the Sun<\/a>-like star that shed its outer atmosphere — is moving unusually fast through interstellar space, creating a bow shock<\/a> most visible on the upper left that is similar to<\/a> a boat plowing through water<\/a>. Although faint, the Shrimp Nebula<\/a> glows also by compressing<\/a> and brightening gas on its leading edge. The featured image<\/a> was taken in the light of hydrogen<\/a>, sulfur, and oxygen by a backyard telescope in Krakow<\/a>, Poland<\/a> and then digitally adjusted to approximate the nebula<\/a>‘s true colors.<\/p>\n
