LETTER: Is timing of Surrey police chief’s court filing a political ‘attack’ on the mayor?

Editor,

It seems that the former Surrey police chief has decided to make a political attack against the mayor of Surrey by stating he was fired due to political interference from the mayor as she was a defender of the RCMP. The stance that the mayor had, in regards to keeping the RCMP, was the one that she was elected on.

The decision to dismiss the former police chief was made by the Surrey police board, not by the mayor.

It seems to me, my opinion only, is this was brought up at this time to hurt the mayor’s chance to return to office. Wonder who benefits from this being brought up at this time? I can think of two supporters of the former police chief.

Politics have become attacks on opponents, not the stance and plans that they have for the public. Sad.
