The Indiana Fever<\/a>\u2019s WNBA Playoffs win over the Las Vegas Aces was not the main story coming out of Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday, September 29, thanks to a tense exchange between Aces superstar A\u2019ja Wilson<\/a> and a fan.<\/p>\n

With four minutes remaining in the Fever\u2019s 99-89 Game 2 win, a fan courtside appeared to stand up and point at Wilson, 30.<\/p>\n

The reigning WNBA MVP then stepped toward the fan, saying, \u201cYou don\u2019t point at me, you don\u2019t point at me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson\u2019s teammates quickly stepped between her and the fan, who was then escorted from his seat before being allowed to return.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses,\u201d the Fever said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cSecurity determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson was asked about the moment after the game, where she declined to reveal exactly what the fan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI try to play my game \u2026 but if I am just walking, just got the foul, I\u2019m chilling and I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me and pointing at me, I don\u2019t give a damn what you said,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t give a damn how you said it, the tone. That is unacceptable. You don\u2019t step toward me. You never should sit and point at me. That there is unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFour-time WNBA MVP A\u2019ja Wilson was never cheering against Caitlin Clark. She has, however, taken issue with the false and racially divisive narrative that followed the Indiana Fever superstar to the pros in 2024. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t a hit at me, because I\u2019m going to do me regardless,\u201d Wilson, 29, told Time in a story published [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cYou don\u2019t know me at all. To come and step toward me and point at me and say anything \u2026 you don\u2019t have to like me, you don\u2019t have to love me. You can hate me with all your heart. But you don\u2019t know me. But I guarantee you will respect me.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the press conference, Wilson also told <\/a>her coach, Becky Hammon<\/a>, \u201cNo way he does that to LeBron [James],\u201d according to ESPN\u2019s Michael Voepel.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the media, Hammon, 49, admitted she didn\u2019t see exactly what happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cI kind of saw the aftermath,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve never seen A\u2019ja Wilson go like that. So whatever was done, I can tell you she felt very disrespected in that moment. I\u2019ve never seen her really react like that, ever. So whatever it was, it doesn\u2019t have any place, I don\u2019t think, in an arena.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hammon continued, \u201cThere\u2019s rules and procedures. I think there\u2019s a certain etiquette that both players and fans need to abide by, but clearly the lines get crossed, and it seems to happen here. I can\u2019t speak specifically as to what was said or what was done. But I can speak to the character of our players, and the stuff that they deal with. The disrespect \u2014 whether that\u2019s a word or an action, a gesture \u2014 should be addressed appropriately. That\u2019s not my job. It\u2019s the job of this arena. So I assume they are following protocol.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Aces and Fever will play a decisive Game 3 on Thursday, October 1, in Las Vegas.
