Unfortunately for Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> fans, their favorite team is not in the MLB playoffs. The postseason began with the Wild Card round on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Even though Toronto isn\u2019t in the postseason, there is still plenty of news involving the team.<\/p>\n Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins spoke at a press conference on Wednesday.<\/p>\n During the press conference, Atkins revealed news involving Anthony Santander<\/a>, who missed the entire season after undergoing shoulder surgery.<\/p>\n Toronto Blue Jays\u2019 Ross Atkins Announces Anthony Santander News During MLB Playoffs<\/p>\n \n Santander is still in Dunedin, according to The Athletic\u2019s Mitch Bannon. Toronto wants him to play outfield next year.<\/p>\n Bannon wrote on X<\/a>: Some notes from Ross Atkins talking with writers after presser: \u2013 Santander still in Dunedin, Jays want him to prepare for OF play \u2013 Clement \u2018will have to earn\u2019 2B job. \u2018But he always has\u2019 \u2013 Spencer Miles<\/a> capable of SP or RP, but \u2018difficult decision\u2019 Jays\/he must make ASAP<\/p>\n Some notes from Ross Atkins talking with writers after presser: Looking at Anthony Santander<\/p>\n \n Santander signed a five-year, $92.5 million contract with the Blue Jays on Jan. 20, 2025.<\/p>\n It\u2019s safe to say the deal hasn\u2019t worked out for Toronto.<\/p>\n \n Santander appeared in just 54 regular-season games last year due to shoulder inflammation.<\/p>\n He posted a poor .565 OPS during those 54 games.<\/p>\n \n Santander returned in time for the postseason last year, but was shut down during the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners due to back tightness<\/a>.<\/p>\n Santander played for the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> for his entire MLB<\/a>\u00a0career (2017-24) before joining the Blue Jays.<\/p>\n \n During his time with Baltimore, Santander posted 11.0 bWAR and a .776 OPS with 155 home runs and 435 RBI.<\/p>\n In his final year with the Orioles, Santander made the AL All-Star Team, won a Silver Slugger award, and slugged 44 home runs.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\t\tJackson Kruse<\/a> Jackson Kruse covers Major League Baseball for Heavy Sports.
