He was selected as a test cosmonaut for Russia&#8217;s space agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/22724-roscosmos.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/22724-roscosmos.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-article-category=\"space-exploration\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/22724-roscosmos.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roscosmos<\/a> in 2021 after serving aboard Russian submarines with the country&#8217;s navy.
