{"id":917212,"date":"2026-10-02T00:46:10","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T00:46:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/917212\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T00:46:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T00:46:10","slug":"winnipeg-donors-flock-to-blood-drive-pop-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/917212\/","title":{"rendered":"Winnipeg donors flock to blood drive pop-up:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u201cconstant need\u201d is the reason Andrew Dyck keeps donating blood.<\/p>\n<p>Dyck was among the 80 people to sign up for one of the 100 appointment slots at Thursday\u2019s blood drive pop-up in Winnipeg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you watch the ads and you know there\u2019s accidents and people that are sick that need help and this is a way to go out, you give a bit of blood, you have some drinks and some chips and you go on with your day and you\u2019re helping other people,\u201d Dyck said.<\/p>\n<p>Betsy Troutt, who has now donated blood 64 times with Canadian Blood Services, says everyone should think about donating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you come to donate blood, everybody is really nice and very appreciative, and it gives you a good feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope others would donate blood if I need it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Alverez says pop-up blood drives make donating easier than ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy not, it barely takes any time,\u201d Alvarez said. \u201cThese pop-ups are great. They\u2019re close to a lot of peoples\u2019 homes, if you\u2019re able to go during the day. So I think it\u2019s fantastic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just so important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/winnipeg.citynews.ca\/2026\/07\/22\/canadian-blood-services-calling-for-donors-amid-serious-drop-in-supply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Canadian Blood Services reported<\/a> that blood supply had decreased by nearly 20 per cent.
